Megan Sommerville (b. 1979, Great Smoky Mountains National Park) is a multi disciplinary artist and designer working across many media and modalities including movement, choreography, painting, and product design in her role as
co-founder and Creative Director of the New York based design studio MATERIA.

Grounded in somatic self exploration, her current work investigates the process of mark making as an embodiment of one’s own nervous system. Intuitive color selection provides a visceral portal into the shadowy spaces of unacknowledged or undiscovered physical memory. Through agentic excavation, can there be healing?
